Sly, Attorney at Law. As of counsel with Evans and Evans disability advocates, my goal is to treat every client with the compassion and respect needed for every situation.

Evans and Evans Disability Advocates

Since 1974, I have litigated more than 7,000 claims. Located in Portland, my firm proudly represents Social Security and Supplemental Security Income disability clients throughout Northwest Oregon and Southwest Washington before the Social Security Administration, their Office of Disability Adjudication and Review (ODAR), their Appeals Council, and in the United States District and Circuit Courts.

The cornerstone of any success I may enjoy is hard work, diligence, and the quality relationship which I maintain with clients. Clients are treated with respect concerning their needs, goals, and objectives. The Social Security filing/approval process can be overwhelming to the disabled and medically impaired person. Throughout the decades, my clients have trusted me with their disability legal services, and have said that having an experienced advocate fighting for their rights was crucial to the success of their claim.

Serving You on a Contingency Basis

You do not have to be concerned with how you are going to pay for your disability legal services. My work as an advocate is done on a contingency basis, meaning you do not pay for service unless your case is won; then, the Social Security Administration calculates the benefits owed and pays my attorney’s fees. Some of the services I offer include:

  • Denied Claims & Appeals
  • Social Security Disability (SSD)
  • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
  • Disabling Conditions
  • Dependents & Children Disability
  • Age 50+ Claims

From our Clients

I went to Evan’s and Evan’s when a friend had told me that they had won her disability case for her. I had already been denied disability twice and I appealed for a hearing, I had been trying for about a year and a half at this point. I was extremely sick and unable to work any longer, I was losing my apartment and on the verge of being homeless and the bills just kept coming in and piling up I had no more money and no way of getting anymore.

I was really scared and desperate and didn’t know where to turn, I called and set up a time to meet with Richard Sly, very laid back kind of guy . I explained my situation to him and he agreed to take my case, he never promised or sugar coated anything and when I left I wasn’t really sure how I felt or what the outcome would be, but I at least had someone in my corner now and all I could do was hope for the best and pray for a miracle. They did all the leg work for me and I didn’t hear much from them unless they needed something like a signature or permission to get medical records.

Fast forward to the hearing day, I was extremely nervous and scared because if I don’t win my case I don’t know where I will live or what I will do because I am still extremely sick and unable to work. I met with Richard Sly about a half hour before the hearing was set to begin we went over a few things about my case and then it was time. We were in front of the judge for maybe 15-20 minutes and then it was over. I had no idea what had just happened to be honest, I just felt like I couldn’t hear or understand anything that was being said, Richard and I walked out into the hallway, and I asked him okay what now, how long until I find out if I am approved or denied? He did a little chuckle and said you just won, the judge approved you for disability. I was in shock, I wanted to scream, hug him and cry all at the same time, the instant relief that I had felt from those words I cannot explain.

I am so very grateful and thankful for Richard Sly and Evan’s and Evan’s for taking my case and everything that they did. I’m still going to be sick, but at least now I don’t have to worry about having a place to live and how I’m going to pay my bills. I don’t think they know how much of an impact they make to someone’s life, this is something they do everyday, but for me it is life changing a miracle for me. Thank you Richard Sly and Evan’s and Evan’s, I am forever grateful, Evelyn M.
